Hey everyone! I'm looking for some tips on how to enhance the privacy in my garden. The previous owner did a wonderful job landscaping it, with beautiful borders filled with various shrubs, trees, and plants. However, it backs onto a cul de sac, which means my lovely garden is quite exposed to the houses behind me. It really takes away from the peaceful vibe I want to enjoy. The back of my garden has a straight wall as the boundary. I'm curious about what I can plant to block the view from those houses—ideally something that can grow to around 9 feet tall. I initially thought about Leylandii, but I've heard a lot of negative feedback about that option. Any suggestions?

It's great that you're thinking of privacy! Just a heads up, planting something that grows around 9 feet could block a decent amount of light from your other plants, so keep that in mind. Maintenance is also a factor; you'll probably need to trim it at least once a year. If you're handy, you could handle that—you mentioned having a good tree surgeon nearby, which is a plus! What are you looking to plant aside from Leylandii?

I’ve considered other options! I’m quite open to plant suggestions, especially since I'm still getting the hang of gardening.
