I recently had a home inspection on a house built in 1905, and the inspector found vermiculite insulation in the side attics and a lead service line for water. He mentioned that if the vermiculite is from before 1990, it's likely to contain asbestos, which really freaks me out. The lead pipe issue is pretty common in Chicago, but I'm unsure if these concerns are manageable. Should I be worried about keeping the house, or is this standard for older homes? What's the best way to handle these issues, especially when it comes to selling in the future?

It's pretty normal to find those materials in a house that age. If having these issues is going to make you super anxious, it might be best to reconsider moving forward. Old homes definitely come with their quirks!
I get it! My stress mainly comes from what others say about it. If experts think it’s manageable, that eases my mind. But if it’s serious, I’d definitely be more concerned.
