I just wanted to share an update after talking to a representative from Lee Valley regarding their return policy. I learned that if I sharpen the iron at all, I won't be able to return it, which is disappointing. I guess I'll just send it back for a refund instead.

Are you returning it because it’s defective or just because you changed your mind? Usually, unless there’s a defect, they probably won’t take back anything that’s been modified like that.

It’s not about changing my mind; it’s one of those products that supposedly fits 99.99% of planes, but this one was in that .01% that it doesn’t fit. Anyway, I sent it back untouched and ordered a thinner Hock iron.
