I have a small hole in my bathroom ceiling drywall, and it feels a bit damp and soft to the touch. I'm worried it might need to be cut out. What should I do?

If it's just damp from lack of airflow, try keeping the fan on longer. But if it’s coming from above, it’s best to investigate further. Repair might be necessary if you notice mold or if it feels squishy. Don't wait too long; moisture can cause bigger issues.
It really depends on what's causing the dampness. Is there a leak from upstairs, or could it just be from not using the fan long enough after showers? If it’s the latter, you might get away with just improving ventilation instead of cutting the drywall. But if there’s a leak, you’ll definitely need to address it and cut out the damaged section.
