I'm working on building a wardrobe and drawers using 18mm plywood and I'm planning to prime and paint the entire piece. I want to know if it's okay to paint edge banding. I've tried sealing the edges with wood filler, but it's quite messy and time-consuming. I've also painted over edge banding before and it looked decent, but I'm concerned about its durability and whether it's a common practice. Has anyone done this and had good results?

There are specific edge banding products designed for painting, which can give you an even better finish. If you're going for a super clean look, consider using a .5mm maple wood tape, as it takes paint really well.
