I've noticed that during this rainy weather, water is pooling in the track of my storm window and then seeping down into the window sill. I suspect that the water is collecting in the screen and isn't able to drip outside as it should, possibly because the old windows lack weep holes for drainage. Am I right about the issue, or could there be something else at play? Is there anything I can do myself to resolve this? Thanks in advance for any tips!

It sounds like you might be on the right track! If your windows are older, it’s not uncommon for them to lack weep holes. Water can definitely get stuck in the screen and track if there’s nowhere for it to drain. You could try gently cleaning out the track and checking for any obstructions. If you can’t find a drainage route, you might consider drilling a small weep hole in the track to allow the water to escape, but make sure it’s in a spot where it won’t cause damage. Just be cautious! Let us know if you try anything!

Yeah, definitely clean out the track first. Sometimes debris can block the flow. If all else fails, the weep hole idea could help, just be careful about where you drill!
