Should I Rethink My 65″ TV Mounting with Toggle Bolts?

I recently hired someone to mount my 65" TV, and they used toggle bolts instead of securing it to the studs. I'm feeling uneasy about it, especially since there's a noticeable bulge in the wall where the mount is attached. The anchors are rated for 265 lbs in 1/2" drywall, but I'm wondering if this setup is reliable or if I should consider switching to a TV stand instead?

I’d recommend taking that TV down and definitely hitting the studs if you can. Even though the mounting hardware might be rated for a lot, it’s just safer to go directly into the studs whenever possible. That bulge isn't a good sign!

I hear you! In old buildings, it’s tricky to find studs. We only found one metal stud in ours!
