Oops! Only One Type of Compost in My Mel’s Mix – What Now?

Asked By GardeningGuru42 On

I'm a first-time Square Foot Gardening (SFG) enthusiast and recently filled my 4x8 bed with Mel's mix. However, I just realized I made a mistake by only using one type of compost (EKO compost). I've also got some worm castings at home, but I'm wondering what other compost options I should include to correct this before planting. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hey there! Don’t stress too much about your mix. We all make mistakes when we’re starting out, and that's how we learn! Just keep an eye on your plants' leaf colors for any nutrient deficiencies. If needed, you can always use a balanced fertilizer. Also, consider top dressing with a mix of different composts at the end of the growing season for next year. That'll help diversify your soil and improve your mix for the future!

Thanks for the reassurance! I’ll definitely monitor my plants closely and think about the top dressing later. Really appreciate it!
