Hey everyone! I'm slowly upgrading some things in my first home from the 1970s, and now I'm looking into getting a smart thermostat, especially with the heat waves coming up in the Central Valley. I've been checking out options like Nest and Ecobee, but I'm not sure if I have the right wiring for it. Right now, I'm having some issues where my thermostat shows 40 degrees when it's actually 79 outside, which is definitely not accurate. I'm wondering if switching to a smart thermostat would solve this problem or if there's a deeper issue with my system. Also, I've already replaced the batteries, haha. I've attached a picture of my wiring for reference. I'd really appreciate any guidance or insight!

You should be good to go for a smart thermostat since you have a common wire! Just keep in mind that it won't fix your current AC issue unless your existing thermostat is malfunctioning and not triggering the AC correctly.
Yeah, that's right! My AC also runs fine, but I have to turn it on manually. It would be so nice to just tap an app to cool things down at night!
