Does UV Film for Windows Actually Help with Heat?

Has anyone out there tried using UV film on their windows? I'm asking because I have a bedroom that faces west, and during the summer months, it gets super hot—about 8 degrees warmer than the rest of my house. I planted a tree to help with shade, but it's barely making a difference, and I can't afford to redo the insulation. So, I'm curious if that UV film actually works to cut down on the heat from the sun!

I’ve put the film on my old sliding doors, and the change was huge! It kept the floor from feeling hot enough to burn your feet, but it was tricky getting the film to stick. Definitely a great option if you have older windows!

That’s awesome to hear! I guess I'll have to be careful with application, then.

For my camper, I used heat-reduction film on all the windows, and it made a noticeable difference in comfort. The AC was way more effective in keeping it cooler—even with no shade around!

Yes, UV blocking film is a good way to reduce sun damage and heat. Just remember, it only filters out heat that comes directly through the window, so if the wall is radiating heat too, it won't fix everything. But it does help overall!

Got it—thanks for clarifying! So it sounds like it’s a decent first step, but not a miracle solution.
