I've been struggling to get my backyard sorted out. After years of heat, wear and tear, plus a pool remodel, the sod is basically toast, and I've got a bunch of bare patches. I've tried reaching out to several landscape companies through phone calls and online forms, but no luck. I expected to receive multiple bids but haven't gotten any responses. Is this typical for them to be overwhelmed with work to the point of not following up? Here's a rundown of my attempts so far: Installer 1 asked me to fill out an online form but never got back to me. Installer 2 also went silent after I filled out their form. Installer 3 gave me a rough estimate over the phone based on my yard size but said they wouldn't come out to measure unless I paid a deposit. Installer 4 scheduled a measurement but never showed up. Installer 5 measured but then I never heard back with a bid. Installer 6 called me multiple times but no one picked up. Installer 7 came by to measure but again no bid. Installer 8 refused to measure or give a price without a $150 fee. What's going on?

It's definitely that time of year when landscaping companies get slammed with work, especially leading up to the 4th of July. A lot of them focus on larger projects and might not prioritize smaller jobs like yours. It's frustrating, but they need to manage their workload. Hang tight and maybe try again after the holiday when things might slow down a bit!

Yeah, I get that! But if it’s a decent-sized project, that still seems a bit off. Maybe see if any suppliers can recommend reliable contractors for your area; they usually know who's good and who’s available.
