Am I Using My DCF 610 Screwdriver Wrong for Drilling?

Hey everyone! I just picked up a DCF 610, and along with it, I got a drill bit and fastener bit set from a big box store. I'm trying to use a 7/64 drill bit, but it doesn't fit in the 610. My questions are: do I need an adapter to make this work, or is it possible that I was sold the wrong kit? Am I just not understanding how to use what I have?

You hit the nail on the head! The DCF610 is made for light screw driving, and while it can handle light drilling, you'll want bits with a 1/4" hex shaft. Those should work great with what you have. Check out some drill bit sets with that style; they'll fit perfectly!

Sounds like you got a screwdriver instead of a proper drill! The DCF 610 is designed specifically as a 1/4" collet screwdriver. While you can buy drill bits with hex shanks that fit, such as the ones with a quarter-inch shank, a standard drill will really make your life easier. Just keep in mind that the DCF 610 is okay for light-duty tasks, but not the best choice for everything you might want to do. You might want to check out dedicated drill bits for it!

Definitely go for 1/4" shank bits! If you feel like you need more versatility, a standalone chuck is a good option too.

Honestly, I'd recommend you consider getting a proper drill if you're planning on doing a lot of drilling. If you're looking for a temporary fix, you can use a bit set that's compatible with your screwdriver to make it work for small holes. But for anything heavy-duty, a dedicated drill is the way to go!
