Best Methods for Tapering and Beveling Long Boards?

Hey folks! I've got an order for 200 boards, each measuring 8 meters (about 26.25 feet) long. They need to be tapered from 156 mm (6.14 inches) at one end to 125 mm (4.92 inches) at the other. I'm considering using a track saw with a long guide rail to handle the cuts. Also, I need to bevel the edges and am thinking a handheld router might do the trick. I'm looking for suggestions on the best and easiest methods to tackle this job efficiently. Any tips or tricks to make it easier and more precise? Appreciate your input!

Just a heads up, even if you're a pro, working with such long boards can feel overwhelming! It's totally fine to take on challenging projects. 8 meters is unique, and as for sourcing, I believe specialty lumberyards or suppliers often carry longer lengths. Don't forget to take breaks to avoid fatigue; you'll be cutting a lot! Good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement! I'll be sure to pace myself and make sure everything's set up right before diving in.

Getting those long boards straight can be tricky! I suggest using long guide rails with minimal connections; the fewer joints, the better for accuracy. Make sure you support the entire length of the boards as you go. Using a chalk line will really help align your guide rails. If you're making 200 boards, consider building a jig for exact positioning—it can save you loads of time. You might even be able to bevel the edges in the same setup for added efficiency!
