How Much Should I Expect to Pay for Vinyl Siding on My House?

I'm considering re-siding my 1800 sq ft house with vinyl siding, including an attached two-car garage. I understand that estimates can vary greatly, but I'm hoping to get a rough idea of the cost. Should I be prepared for a bill around $10,000 or more like $20,000? I live in Ohio, so any local insights would be especially helpful!

The cost really depends on your roofline and the architectural features of your house, rather than just the square footage. For example, gables and similar features can add to the complexity and labor of the job. It's best to have a contractor come by for a detailed estimate.

Got it! I didn’t think about the garage before, but I suppose it's an important part of the calculation. I should definitely get a quote.

One neighbor just spent about $40,000 for their siding job, but that included more than just the siding—like gutters and soffits, which can add up. If your house is a single story, think about DIYing it to save some costs, even with a busy schedule!

Wow, that’s way more than I expected! I do have a ranch-style house. I might just go the DIY route if I can manage my work schedule.

I just completed a similar project on my 1900 sq ft gambrel colonial in Connecticut, and it cost about $33,000. That included gutters and soffits, along with some extra work to replace plywood and do window trims. It's definitely a big investment, but I'm really happy with the result!

Was that fiber cement siding or vinyl? I'm trying to figure out my best options.
