Hey everyone! I'm not really into woodworking as a hobby, but I do a ton of DIY projects around the house. Up until now, I've been using a circular saw with a straight edge for my cuts, which can be quite tedious for larger pieces of wood. I'm currently in the process of building a chicken coop and I'm thinking a table saw could really speed things up.
I'm on the lookout for a sturdy, reliable table saw that can fit in my garage. Price isn't a huge concern, but I'm just a basic DIYer, so I don't need anything over the top. I've been eyeing the Bosch 4100, but I've seen mixed reviews about it, which makes me a bit hesitant. What do you all think? Any recommendations for a good workhorse table saw?

If you’re looking for a popular choice, the DeWalt 7491 is often recommended. I've got one myself, and with a good crosscut sled, I hardly use my miter saw for breaking down long boards anymore. If you're mostly cutting long pieces, though, a miter saw might be more practical for you. Alternatively, you could consider a Festool HKC 55 track saw; it’s a bit pricey but compact and really useful for precise cuts and sheet material—perfect if you want something that saves space.
The Skil 10" saw is another solid choice! I picked one up recently and it's cheaper than the DEWALT but still has great features and feels really well made.
I've had the Bosch 4100 with the gravity rise stand for over ten years, and it's been fantastic! I've done a lot of cabinet-making and remodeling with it. It’s pretty versatile for general household projects. The mixed reviews might come from those who prefer larger stationary saws, but for a small space, it works great.
You might want to check out the Dewalt job site saws. The 15A 10" model is super reliable and generally gets high marks from users. It's a solid option!

That’s reassuring to hear! I was a bit worried about the mixed reviews since it seems some people have a bias against more portable setups. A big saw definitely isn’t practical for my current needs.
