I've been having some trouble with rabbits eating my crops, so now I'm looking into restarting some of my spring and summer plants. I've read that certain seeds can be started indoors around mid-July, but I'm wondering if it's okay to start them in seedling trays outside instead. One website suggested I'd need grow lights, but since this is my first year gardening, that sounds like overkill for me. Do I actually need those grow lights?

If you have a sunny spot outside, like a patio table, you might be fine starting your seed trays there! Just make sure it's elevated enough so the bunnies can't reach them. Trying outside could be worth a shot!
You kinda need grow lights for the best results. While some folks have had luck starting seedlings next to sunny windows, grow lights really help produce strong seedlings consistently. It also depends on what you're planting!

Ugh, I was afraid of that! I'm trying to regrow broccoli, lettuce, spinach, radishes, and turnips since the rabbits got to them. I heard that in Maryland, leafy greens don't do well in the summer heat, so I'm worried I've missed my chance to restart until fall.
