Why is my dishwasher draining into the air gap?

I'm having a persistent problem with my dishwasher where water keeps draining out of the air gap. I've replaced my garbage disposal and the dishwasher drain hose, thinking one of those could be clogged. My air gap is also new, just about five months old. I've confirmed that the plug is removed. Despite all these changes, my dishwasher is still draining into the sink. I'm really at a loss here—what else could be causing this?

Sounds like you might have a clog somewhere in the drainage line. Double-check if everything is clear. Also, make sure the vacuum breaker above the dishwasher drain hose is installed correctly; its height can cause drainage issues if it’s not positioned right.

I actually checked the entire line, and it’s brand new. I even watched it drain, and the dishwasher seems to be pumping out water faster than it can handle. What do you think could be the problem then?
