I recently had my old oven die on me, so I picked up a new one. While taking the old oven out, I noticed that its setup wasn't a simple plug; instead, it had three sets of wires twisted together leading into the wall. My new oven, however, comes with a standard Australian plug like most home appliances. There's a socket available that currently powers my microwave. Would it be feasible to use a double adaptor to plug my new oven in? The manual specifies that it needs AC power sockets rated for AC220V-240V/16A. Also, my fuse box has 20A for each switch (while lights have 10A). Thanks for any advice!

Just a heads up, ovens typically require a good amount of power. If you're not sure about the ratings or what type of plug you need, it’s best to snap a few pictures and consult an electrician. Doing electrical work on your own can be risky, especially with higher amperage.
It's pretty standard for ovens to need their own dedicated circuit, usually around 15-20A. If your new oven has a plug, it seems a bit unusual, but it’s definitely not safe to use a double adaptor for it. If you try to use both the microwave and the oven at the same time on the same circuit, you're likely going to trip the breaker. I highly recommend consulting with an electrician to get this sorted out properly without risking a fire hazard.
You might get away with plugging in the oven directly, but it’s crucial that you don’t have it and the microwave drawing power together. They really should be on separate circuits. Definitely avoid using a double power adaptor, too! Not only could that create a serious safety issue, but electrical work in Australia needs to be done by a licensed professional for anything beyond simple plugging in.
