What’s a Rough Cost Estimate for a Home Addition?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to get a ballpark figure on what it might cost to add an addition to my house. I plan to build a 14'x14' addition that would expand our basement, living room, and master bedroom all at once. We're also considering adding a 10'x10' two-level deck next to it, which would connect to a new sliding door in the master and an existing one on the first floor. Altogether, we're talking about 588 square feet of added space. This will definitely need to be factored into how we tie it into our existing roof structure as well. I'm based in Ottawa County, MI, and would love any insights or rough estimates on this kind of project. Thanks!

I'd recommend considering a slightly larger size for your addition. The initial costs for a three-story expansion can be steep, but adding just a few more feet may not add much to the overall expense. It could really enhance your living space in the long run!

Thanks for the advice! What size increase would you suggest to make it more worthwhile? I'm curious if expanding only the first and second floors would work better with a post foundation instead of going for a poured one.

Considering you're in Ottawa County, a rough estimate for a project like this could be around $200,000, give or take about $50,000. The location can really affect prices, though, so keep that in mind!
