What’s the Best Way to Propagate My Succulent Leaves?

I just got a few succulents, but during transportation, they dropped some leaves. I'd love to propagate those leaves into new plants! I've let the open wounds harden for a couple of days, but I'm stuck on what to do next. Should I place them in soil or water? If I use soil, how often should I water them? And when they start developing roots, should I plant them right away or wait until the root system is more established? Any advice is appreciated! 🙂

The propagation method can really depend on the type of succulents you have. Could you share the names? Knowing this can help figure out the best approach for each plant.

I have a sedum adolphi sunstorm and an echeveria cloud (or at least that’s what the tags say). What do I do with those leaves?

If your leaves broke off cleanly, just lay them on a tray or pot with dry soil for now. You don’t need to water them until they start growing roots, which usually takes a few weeks to months, depending on the type! Once you see some roots, cover them lightly with soil to protect them from the sun, and then give a little water so they don’t dry out. Good luck with your propagation journey!
