I'm looking to build a sandbox for my kids using 2x material, and I want to make sure the edges are smooth to prevent any splinters. I'm not exactly a pro in woodworking but I wouldn't call myself a complete newbie either. I'm trying to figure out what kind of sander would be best for this job. Should I go with a random orbital sander, a detail sander, or just stick to good old sandpaper and do it manually?

I'd recommend using a random orbital sander. It's super versatile and will definitely come in handy for future projects beyond just the sandbox.

Is it worth getting a battery-operated version if I already have Dewalt batteries, or is a corded sander more reliable for outdoor work?
