Hey everyone! I'm currently using a DCD701 and DCD801 and I'm thinking about getting an impact driver to help with smaller screws (25, 40, and 75 mm). It's primarily for my garage shop, so I'm not looking for the most powerful option. I'm more interested in having good control, quieter operation, and comfortable use. I've been looking at the DCF887, 845P, and 850 models, but I'm wondering if there are any better alternatives. Any suggestions?

If you're worried about noise, definitely lean towards the DCF870. It's more expensive at $220 for the bare tool, but it's worth it if that's a priority for you. Alternatively, check out the DCF860. You can usually score that one for under $100 when you pair it with a Lowe's battery kit hack.
The DCF887 is a bit outdated now. The DCF850 and DCF845 are both excellent choices for home use. The big difference is in their shapes; the 850 is short and wide while the 845 is longer but more slender. Just pick the one that feels better to you. If noise is a concern, consider the DCF870—it has a hydraulic impact design that makes it much quieter than the others, but it’s around $220 for just the tool.
