I've got an 84"x36"x1.5" end grain butcher block, and I'm downsizing, so I need to cut it shorter. My plan is to use a circular saw for the initial cut, then I'll use a router with a 1/8" roundover bit to finish the edges. After that, I'll sand it down and re-stain and seal it. My main concerns are whether a circular saw is suitable for this task and what blade type I should use considering the butcher block is 1.5" thick. Are there any steps in my process that you think I should reconsider?

Using a circular saw is a solid choice! Just make sure to clamp down a straight edge as a guide to keep your cut straight. A sharp blade is key here, but your overall plan looks good!
