What Flowers Will Be Blooming for a September Wedding in Zone 6A?

Hey everyone! I'm planning my wedding for the first weekend in September in central Pennsylvania, which is in hardiness zone 6A. I'm looking for some advice on what flowers I can plant that will bloom right around that time. If you have any recommendations on specific types or when to plant them, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

There are plenty of beautiful options for September blooms! Consider late goldenrods, which are stunning and great for pollinators, or autumn blooming stonecrops. Other great choices are New England asters, Black Eyed Susans, and perennial sunflowers. And don't forget about plants like beautyberry or swamp milkweed, which look lovely with their berries and seed pods even if they've finished blooming. For some more ideas, you might check out a detailed list from the Brooklyn Botanical Garden that covers blooms that should thrive in your area.

Buying plants close to your wedding date is a great idea! Stores often prepare them to bloom early, so they look perfect when you get them. This way, you can ensure they'll be at their peak for your big day. Asters are also a fantastic choice since they bloom in late summer and into fall, which should fit right in with your September plans.
