Hey everyone, I'm hoping to get some advice on connecting a solar panel and an input device I have. I have a solar panel that outputs between 20-28 volts and 120 watts, and I'm looking to connect it to my Anchor Solix C300, which has a maximum input of 20-28 volts and 100 watts. I'm a bit confused about the 20-watt difference in power rating. Is it safe to connect them directly, or do I need to do something to adjust the output from the solar panel? Any recommendations for hardware or solutions would be really appreciated! Thanks!

It's not really the watts that should make you worry, but the voltage. Just check that the open circuit voltage of your panel doesn’t exceed the device’s max input voltage, especially when it’s cold outside. If it does, it could damage your device. Otherwise, it should work without issues as devices usually limit the input to their max rating.
I’ve connected my setup similarly, and it works great! Just remember that your device will draw what it needs, so even with that extra wattage from the panel, it should only use up to 100 watts safely. Just ensure that voltage stays under control, and you're all set!
Exactly! It's all about managing the voltage, and you shouldn't have any trouble unless you exceed the ratings. Just monitor and adjust if needed.
Hey! You should be fine using your setup. Solar panels are usually rated under standard test conditions, which can differ from actual conditions. So don’t stress too much about the wattage difference! Just make sure your panel's voltage stays within the safe range for your input device.

Thanks for clarifying! I'll keep an eye on that voltage to ensure it doesn't peak too high.
