Is That Stain on My Basement Ceiling Water Damage or Mold?

Hey everyone! I'm a first-time homebuyer and I've been living in my new place for almost two months. Recently, I noticed a stain on the ceiling in my basement, which I think is directly below a bathroom. I took a close-up look at the stain, and although it's pretty faint, I'm concerned it might be water damage or mold. Can anyone help me figure this out? Also, if it is indeed a problem, who should I call to get it fixed—a plumber? Thanks a lot!

Looks like you've got some water damage there for sure. Don’t stress too much about mold since it's not visible right now; it typically appears if moisture lingers. Definitely call a plumber to investigate further—they might need to cut into the drywall to find the actual leak. If all goes well, it might just be a minor fix like a leaky pipe, and then you’ll only have to patch up the drywall later. Good luck with it!

Yeah, I agree it's likely water damage, but I totally don’t see any mold either. If you just noticed it, it may be a recent issue. A plumber should definitely take a look—it could be as simple as tightening a pipe or maybe doing some quick repairs. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t worsen!

Thanks for the reassurance! I'm really hoping it's just a quick fix.
