Will Adding a Second Battery Extend My Usage Time With My Current Inverter?

I'm currently using a setup with a single 100W solar panel, a 35 amp controller, a 1000W inverter, and a 12V 50Ah battery. I'm thinking about adding another identical battery in parallel. I realize I'm limited by what my inverter can handle, but I want to know if adding the second battery will let me use my batteries for a longer period of time.

Definitely consider the total capacity! If you're thinking about running heavier loads, like an RV, you might want to look at getting a larger battery, like a 12V 100Ah, instead of just adding another 50Ah battery. Also, make sure your solar panel capacity matches what you need to recharge those batteries effectively.

Absolutely! If your current battery can last through one night, adding a second battery in parallel would approximately double your runtime. Just keep in mind that it's not a straightforward doubling due to some nuances in battery discharge, but generally, you can expect to use your setup longer. Do you have specific devices in mind that you want to run? Some efficient lights would be fine, but there's a chance it won't be enough for larger loads like an RV.

If you're planning to upgrade, I suggest looking into a LiFePO4 100Ah battery. This can work alongside your existing battery if it's also a LiFePO4. Plus, check local marketplaces for larger solar panels; you might find some great deals.
