Hey everyone! I'm planning to put some hedges in my front garden as a barrier to the sidewalk, but I've never dealt with hedges before. Yew is a fantastic choice! It might cost a bit upfront, but it grows slowly, handles neglect pretty well, and looks really classy in a garden.
If you're looking for something fast-growing and easy to manage, Lonicera is a good pick. Yew does have that classic look, and if you're in a rural area, beech is also a solid option.
I'd recommend going with native hedges like yew, hawthorn, blackthorn, beech, or holly. Just a heads up, avoid laurels since they grow super fast and need a lot of upkeep.
