How Can I Make My 32″ Monitor Look Like a CRT?

I'm redoing my room with a Y2K vibe, and I'm trying to figure out how to transform my 32-inch monitor to give it that retro CRT look. I thought about using just the shell of an old CRT monitor or TV, but I'm open to other ideas. Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

Honestly, finding a real CRT monitor might be your best bet! They were usually limited to lower resolutions like 1024x768, and that authentic look can't be replicated easily. Plus, you might find one at a thrift store.

Just be careful when working with CRTs—they can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing!

The 3D printing route is a solid option! Consider printing a sleek new bezel for your monitor. Mount it on a wall, and frame it with molding to give the illusion of a deep CRT without losing desk space. It's a clever way to keep it modern yet nostalgic!

You might want to experiment with transparent plastic to mimic the CRT screen even more!

If you're set on a shell, maybe find an old TV casing? Just know it'll likely be bulky! A 32" CRT shell could end up around 2 feet deep. You could even try using a cardboard box painted to match your style for a simpler look!

Don't overlook the idea of simply adding a retro terminal UI on your screen to give it a vintage feel. It’s an awesome touch that can complete the aesthetics!
