Using a 90-Degree Scraper Blade on a LN 62 Low Angle Jack: Tips Needed!

I'm thinking about trying out a 90-degree scraper blade with my LN 62 Low Angle Jack. Does anyone have tips on how to achieve the best results? I'd love advice, especially on sharpening the blade—should it be treated like a card scraper or is there a different approach? I typically find using a card scraper challenging, so I'm looking for an alternative that might work better for me.

I get where you're coming from, and it’s great to explore options! It would definitely help to improve your hand scraper skills; it lays a strong foundation. That said, experimenting with the scraper blade on your low angle jack can be worthwhile—I’d just suggest learning the basics first.

Honestly, it’s a bit unclear why you want to go this route since there are dedicated scraper planes out there. I recommend mastering the hand scraper technique first before diving into the scraping plane. It really makes a difference in your results!
