Is My M12 Stubby Gen 2 a Dud or Are They All Like This?

Hey everyone, I need some advice. I got an M12 stubby gen 2 as a birthday gift a few weeks ago, but it's been a huge letdown for me. It feels weak—just barely breaking away the lug nuts on my truck, and when I try to tighten them back up, it maxes out right before hitting 140 ft-lbs with my torque wrench. I even tried using it to pull out some rusty caliper bolts, and while it broke them free, it wouldn't spin them all the way out. I had to resort to a breaker bar to finish the job! I ended up returning it and I'm wondering if it's just a defective unit or if I should consider going for a mid-torque instead. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

I've got the M12 and use it all the time, and it pulls lug nuts right off without any hassle—even rusty suspension and axle nuts. I usually go with a 2.5 or 5.0 battery for the best results!

Sounds like you might just have a dud on your hands. Mine works great! No issues pulling anything off, especially with the 5.0 battery. Maybe try swapping batteries or getting it checked?

What batteries were you using with it? Also, which mode were you on? Sometimes the performance can vary based on those factors!

I tried three different 4ah XC batteries and was mainly on mode 3, but I did experiment with the others. I expected way more power; it took like 10-20 seconds of hammering just to get the lug nuts to budge! ?
