DIY Waterproof Solutions for Packout Drawers in Canada

I'm considering switching to Packout drawers for better convenience, but I'm worried about moisture causing rust on my hand and power tools since I have an open box work truck here in Canada. I've used a bottom rolling box and a smaller tote without any rust issues so far, but they're not the best for stacking. Has anyone come up with DIY solutions, like using gaskets or silicone, to make these drawers waterproof?

Another option is to use a trash bag upside down over the drawers. The Packout feet work through the bag, which will help keep it secure while still allowing access to the drawers.

One idea is to get a cover for your stack and toss some silica gel packets in each drawer to absorb moisture. Just keep in mind that silica works best in a sealed environment, so it might get used up quickly if the drawers are exposed to too much humidity.

That cover sounds smart, but just a heads up on the silica—it can’t keep up if it has to deal with a lot of moisture all the time.

You could try making a synthetic or plywood cover. It might be tricky to get it properly sealed because the Packout materials flex a bit, but it could help reduce moisture exposure overall.
