What Wood Should I Use for a Shelf to Match My Acacia Desk?

I built an acacia butcher block desk that has a lovely honey stain, and I'm looking to add a shelf above it. The shelf needs to be 4 feet long and 10 inches deep, but I can't find any acacia butcher block that fits those dimensions. Can anyone suggest another type of wood that would match well with my desk, ideally also with a similar honey stain?

One idea is to take another piece of acacia butcher block and rip it down to 10 inches. This way, you'll get the exact width and length you need, plus you'll have some leftover material to craft another piece—maybe even a small table to match! That way, everything will look cohesive together.

Would a circular saw work well for that? I’m just concerned about keeping the cut straight.
