Is it time to let go of my tiler?

I'm dealing with a marble subway tile installation for a tub, and I'm really concerned about the quality of work. My wife thinks the tiler isn't cleaning the marble tiles properly, which could lead to staining. Additionally, I read that the durock should be waterproofed, and it hasn't been. There are even some corners that look botched. Is this fixable, or are we too far gone to salvage the project?

Yeah, it looks pretty messy. I’d recommend stopping work as soon as possible. It’s better to address these issues now before they get worse!

Those joints are not looking good; that’s definitely a red flag.

If the tiles are set for less than 24 hours, you could potentially salvage this. The adhesive should still be soft enough to remove with some water and lots of scrubbing. But if it's not glued, then it might be a different issue altogether.

Just to clarify, my understanding is there should normally be glue involved, but in this case, there might not be.

It seems like this tiler might not be following proper procedures. Skipping waterproofing is a big deal, and the tile work lacks attention to detail. You definitely seem to have a valid reason to reconsider this guy.
