I'm trying to install a range hood, but I've hit a snag. The outlet is right behind where the hood needs to go, and it's about an inch thick, which means I can't get the hood flush against the wall. I used some wood pieces as temporary support for the hood, but I'm considering switching to a 24-inch model. I'm also curious about hardwiring it to the outlet box. Do I need to remove the outlet cover and connect the wires directly to it or use a junction box? I'm not sure how to handle the situation with the outlet being in the way for drilling screws either. Plus, I need to run an extension cord for the microwave. Any tips?
