How to Deal with Rust in My Shower Room Corner?

Hey everyone! I recently noticed some rust appearing in the corner of our guest shower room (check out the image link: https://imgur.com/a/KdfFaZ6). I applied silicone caulk over a crack I found, but I'm not sure where the rust is coming from. Is there likely metal installed behind the shower wall? Should I be worried about this issue? Thanks for your advice!

It looks like you're dealing with a corner bead, which is metal used to protect drywall corners from getting damaged. It’s not too hard to replace or repair it yourself, but I'd recommend checking out some DIY videos from a Vancouver carpenter for guidance. Additionally, consider installing a trim piece or a rubber strip at the bottom to help redirect water back into the shower. That could help prevent this from becoming a bigger issue!

It's not too terribly hard to do yourself. Just remember that with it being a tiled shower, you might want to bring in a pro if you're unsure.

Thanks! I just applied some silicone caulk for now. Can I afford to procrastinate on fixing it, though? Is it safe to leave it like this for a while?
