What Are Good Router Table Options for a Beginner?

Asked By CraftyNinja37 On

I'm currently using a handheld router (OF 1400) and I'm considering getting a router table for tasks like running trim. Ideally, I want a router table with its own motor to eliminate the hassle of swapping my router in and out. I'm open to building one myself, but I wouldn't mind purchasing a solid option if it's reasonably priced. My budget is around $1k, but I'm hoping to get something less expensive without compromising on functionality. Thanks for your help!

The Bosch RA1181 bench top router table is a solid option, especially if you're working on simpler projects. There's actually an Amazon bundle that includes the Bosch 1617EVSPK router for around $450, which could be a great deal for you. It really depends on what you plan to do with it!

Kreg makes a really nice router table top, and you could easily build a cabinet to go with it. I actually use a Porter Cable 3hp router that I picked up used, and I've got about $500 total in my setup. There are a lot of brands that are quite comparable, and you just have to supply the router. Definitely worth looking into!

If you're looking to spend around $1,000, you've got plenty of choices! I've heard great things about Jessem products. Rockler also has a good selection of parts if you're interested in building, but there are several reputable brands out there too. Just make sure to do a little research on what fits your needs best. Good luck!
