Should I Go for Artificial Grass in My Small Backyard?

I'm thinking about installing artificial turf in my small backyard, especially since I have a little dog that will use it as a bathroom. I'm worried about whether it will smell, since the area is mostly shaded and real grass tends to die in those conditions. I've heard about using envirofill, but I'm not sure if that's enough to avoid any unpleasant odors. Can anyone share their thoughts or experiences with this?

There are definitely better options than just going for artificial turf. You might want to look into native groundcovers suited for your area. They can be hardier and might not go with the smell issue as badly. Consider plants like goldenrod or yarrow; they can spread quickly and adapt well. You can even prune them if they get out of hand! Just a thought, maybe try fencing off a section for them to establish.

Yeah, that's a smart idea! Planting a hardy native like that could really make a difference, plus it gives a nice look to your yard!
