I'm looking for some plant suggestions for my NNW facing garden, especially now that it's early summer. Our flowerbeds have seen better days while we were trying to sell the house, but since that fell through, I want to breathe some life back into them. We have some trellises on the eastern fences and are working with DIY raised flowerbeds. The soil is clay, but I've mixed it with sand to improve drainage. I'm considering adding colorful options like roses since our winters are pretty mild here, and I've heard some varieties can bloom into mid-November. Are there any climbing plants that could survive or happily hibernate through a British winter? I'd love a good mix of colorful flowers and maybe some grasses to really fill things out!

This year, I planted a NNW facing rose border with David Austin roses, which are shade-tolerant and doing great! They're blooming at different stages, which adds a nice touch. I also threw in some geums and shade-loving geraniums that are putting on a beautiful show. Trust me, they're a fantastic addition!
Are David Austin roses easy to find around here?

Thanks for that tip! I’ll definitely check those out.
