Can You Change the Airflow Direction of a PC Fan?

I'm curious about whether it's possible to change the direction of airflow on a PC fan. I want to be able to switch between pulling air in and blowing it out. Is it just about reversing the wiring, or is it more complicated than that? Also, do I need to flip the fan blades for it to work properly? Thanks!

If your fan is brushed, shooting the polarity will reverse the direction. Just keep in mind that many fans are designed aerodynamically to work a certain way, so they might not work well at all if you run them backward!

Got it! So I really need a rotor blade that supports the airflow direction change properly. Thanks for clarifying!

It really depends on the type of motor you're using. Most modern DC PC fans are brushless and have a built-in controller that only lets them run in one direction. So reversing the wiring won't do anything most of the time.
