What Plant Myths Have You Disproven?

I'm curious about the common plant myths that people have come across and debunked through their own experiences caring for plants. For instance, I've learned that misting plants doesn't really help in increasing the humidity; using a humidifier is much more effective. What are some other myths you've found to be untrue?

A big one I've tackled is the idea that you shouldn't water orchids with ice cubes. It's not true; they actually need proper watering just like any other plant! Good to avoid ice cubes!

I came here to say this! Lol

There's also the misconception that snake plants can thrive in complete darkness. They might survive, but they definitely won’t thrive. I learned that the hard way after losing a few due to neglecting their light needs!

I had the same issue! I kept mine in a dark corner, and they didn’t last long.

Wait, so the myth is they CAN’T thrive in darkness? I just want to be sure!?

Another myth I debunked is that no drainage hole means instant plant death. I've learned to adjust my watering routine for pots without drainage, and they can survive quite well if you pay attention to the substrate and moisture levels!

I drilled holes in all my pretty pots! I wanted to repurpose them without sacrificing my plants.

I use no-drain pots as covers and keep my plants in nursery pots. Makes watering so much easier!
