I'm new to woodworking and feeling a bit lost. I've seen a lot of discussions about wood warping after making something, and I'm trying to understand the basics of treating wood. Is there a general rule of thumb for when and how to treat wood? Do I need to always oil it for projects, whether I'm building a chair or just adding some trim to existing furniture? Also, should I always acclimatize the wood before using it? Basically, what are the essential steps to make sure my wood won't warp after I've put in all that effort?

Wood can definitely warp! Best practice is to use kiln-dried wood and let it acclimate to your workspace. You’d start by milling it to rough dimensions, acclimate again, and finally mill to final dimensions before sealing and building. This process helps minimize warping as much as possible.

Thanks for that tip! So it sounds like the goal is to minimize warping risks rather than completely prevent it, right?
