What Type of Plywood Should I Use for a Cabinet Toe Kick Frame?

Hey everyone! I'm working on the frame for my kitchen base cabinets and I'm trying to figure out the best type of plywood to use for the toe kick base. I've heard I should go with 3/4" or thicker plywood and have it precision cut at my local mill. However, I'm unsure about which plywood species would be the most durable, moisture-resistant, and suited for this purpose. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly, you might be overthinking this. For the toe kick, the only part that really needs to be plywood is the visible front and sides. You can build the frame out of cheaper materials and cover those with the plywood. It doesn't have to be 3/4" thick either; that might be more than you actually need.

Totally agree! In my experience as a cabinetmaker, we usually used 5/8" plywood for toe kicks. Just plain shop-grade stuff works fine. As long as the front looks good, you can cover it with something like 1/8" painted MDF.
