I've got a mix of tools that use different numbers of batteries. Some tools only take one battery (like my impacts and drills), while others take two (like my lawnmower and chainsaw) or even four batteries for my backpack blower. I keep some batteries in the house and garage for heavy use with my single-battery tools, while others hibernate in the shed for light seasonal use. The problem is that my batteries tend to get mixed up. If I start with fully charged batteries and want to use a multi-battery tool, what should I do if I pair a newer battery with one that has seen heavy use? Should I be counting how many times I've used each battery or regularly rotating them?

Honestly, just use the batteries and keep an eye on their performance. They’ll degrade with charge cycles, but if you’re storing some in a hot shed, just remember that's worse for them than mixing usage. So, use what you have!
You’re overthinking this! Just grab your tools and use them like you normally do. Charge them when they run out and you should be good to go.
If you really want to keep track, get some labels or tags for the batteries. Just rotate them every month or so to keep them balanced. But don’t stress too much about it; just replace them when needed.
