Hey everyone! I recently made the switch to some awesome 20V/60V tools, but now I have a bunch of 18V tools sitting around without batteries. They still work perfectly fine, but I just don't need two sets of tools as a homeowner. I've got a battery adapter, but it doesn't fit all the batteries. Any suggestions on what I can do with my old 18V tools?

Honestly, you could just give them to someone you don’t like that much—might lighten your tool collection without feeling bad! Just remember, when using that adapter, keep it attached to the tool instead of the battery. Avoids unnecessary energy drain!
You might be able to tweak that battery adapter! Some have done a bit of modification to make it compatible with more batteries. I still use a few of my 18V tools, but I had to do some surgery on the adapter to get it to work. It’s not as hard as it sounds, just keep at it!
Yeah, some people just shave a little plastic off the adapter, and it fits much better!
I totally get it—my 18V tools were my late dad's, so it's hard for me to let them go. I’ve got the 20V/60V versions of all of them now, but sometimes I just think about turning them into wall decor! Or I’ll use them when I don't want to hassle with switching attachments a lot.
That’s a sweet way to honor your dad! I think many people can relate to that feeling.
If you're really looking to part with them, why not give them to someone who’s just starting out? I passed mine on to a new homeowner who could use them. It felt great to help someone get started!
This is probably what I’m leaning towards. It's a nice thing to do.

I did something similar! I opened up one of those aftermarket adapters and added a 5s BMS for extra safety with the 20V packs. It's been holding up well!
