How Can I Become a Gardening Pro?

I'm super excited that we're about to move into our new house, which has the most stunning garden! However, I really struggle with keeping plants alive, despite putting in a lot of effort. I think part of my issue is that I might be overdoing the "maintenance" stuff and unintentionally harming the plants. The garden has a lawn, some cute little round trees, roses, and a variety of beautiful flowers whose names I don't even know. What are your tips for keeping a garden looking nice and healthy? How do I know when to ease off on the maintenance?

Honestly, you'll learn a lot through experience. There’s just no way to know everything in one season! You might want to start by researching specific plants and their needs. Over time, you'll figure out what works best for your garden and environment.

It's all about practice and learning from failures! My first attempt at growing veggies ended with a lot of weeds because I didn’t know what to do. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes; that’s part of the process! Start small, and you’ll find your rhythm over time.

So true! Every gardening mishap teaches you something new.

You might be giving your plants way more care than they actually need! If it's an established garden, just stick to weeding, mowing, and doing some pruning in winter. Let it be most of the time and give yourself space to experiment and learn.
