I've got a prehung door that measures 25 7/16 inches, but my door frame is only 24 7/8 inches wide. I'm feeling pretty frustrated after my recent installation experience, and I'm looking for suggestions on how to handle this. Should I remove the door jamb and trim a bit off each side, or would it be better to plane the door down and reframe the jamb? Any advice would be appreciated!

This happens really often! You might find that old doorways can have slight variations even in the same house. I had to trim a quarter inch off a door I installed to fit in a frame that was supposed to be standard size. It’s a pain, but you’re not alone in this struggle!
One option is to saw out your existing door frame and replace it with a thinner 1x4, assuming it’s not load-bearing. Just remember, you'll need to shim the prehung door’s frame afterward. But if your tile hits the edge, that could complicate things!
This. (or 5/4")
You definitely need to trim it down to fit. Since it’s over an inch, I’d recommend resawing it to the correct dimensions and then planing it for the perfect fit. If you go the planing route alone, expect to make quite a few passes—like 100 to 150—to get that much off! Got a track saw? That could speed things up!
To the track saw we go!

I was going to try that but I looked down and the tile comes right up to that edge.
