Troubleshooting My Samsung Washer: Help Needed!

Hey everyone,

I've got a Samsung washer (Model # WF42H5000AW/A2 11) that's about 5 years old and it suddenly stopped working. The door was locked, and the LED panel displayed a certain timing, but the knobs were totally unresponsive. I suspect it got messed up due to a nearby lightning storm, but I can't be sure. I took out the two main circuit boards and noticed that the inverter board had a blown electrolytic capacitor that was clearly popped and had some dark clouding under the epoxy.

After replacing both the primary circuit board and the inverter board, the washer powers on, and I can interact with the knobs, but it's still not functioning correctly. It fills with water and does some kind of slow left and right mix, but it won't actually spin or agitate. I can switch it off to drain and refill, but the main cycles just won't kick in.

I've taken off all the panels to check inside, and everything looks fine, but I might've knocked something loose. It's also possible that the storm affected another sensor or switch. I'm handy enough to try fixing it myself, but really hoping for some tips on what I could check next, since replacing the washer isn't an option right now.

I even recorded a video of what's going on with the machine: [Check it out here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgrEHD3bLew)

You might want to look at the door switch. Sometimes if that’s not functioning properly, it can cause issues. You could try jumping it to see if that changes anything. However, since your washer does spin a bit when filling, it might not be the problem. Just a thought!

Yeah, the door switch seems to be working fine since there’s no 'dE' codes popping up. But I appreciate your input!

If you've inspected everything and it’s still not spinning, it might be worth looking deeper into the wiring or the motor itself. Sometimes those can get disrupted during a storm. If you could post some pictures of the boards and connections, that might help others diagnose it better!

I’ve got a video walkthrough that shows the faulty component and the current behavior of the machine. You can check it out here: [Video Link](https://youtu.be/bgrEHD3bLew). Let me know what you think!

It sounds like a tricky situation! Have you checked the error codes? You can access the diagnostic mode, which might point you toward the problem. If no codes are coming up, that could be a sign that something else is going on, like a freak glitch from the storm. Anyway, it's worth a shot! Also, is there a chance it might be stuck in demo mode? I've heard that can happen with some models.

I tried the smart care function, but it didn’t show any error codes. I’ll definitely check the demo mode though—thanks for the suggestion!
