I'm based in Massachusetts and have stored my grass seed in an unheated garage for the past couple of years. I've done everything right by fertilizing, aerating, and watering, but it's barely growing. I'm really concerned if the storage conditions might have ruined the seeds. Does grass seed expire in these kinds of conditions?

It sounds like some clarification is needed here. Are you saying the seed just hasn't germinated at all, or did some sprout but they're weak? That can make a big difference in understanding the issue.
What kind of grass seed are you using? If it’s Kentucky Bluegrass, it can take quite a while—like 20-30 days—to really get going. On the other hand, K31 can start sprouting much faster, usually within a week. Make sure you know what you're dealing with!
I'm not an expert on grass seed specifically, but generally, cold temperatures shouldn't harm seeds like corn or wheat. It's more about heat being an issue. Your seeds might still be okay, but it could depend on other factors too.
