How can I effectively get rid of stubborn mealybugs in my plants?

I've been battling mealybugs on my plants for the past few weeks, and it's getting frustrating. Usually, I just spray them with rubbing alcohol, let it dry, and repeat after a week. It usually works, but this time they keep coming back almost immediately, which has never happened before. I've sprayed multiple times, even two days in a row, but they just reappear the next day. I'm starting to worry I'm damaging my plants in the process. What is going on with these mealybugs? Have they built an immunity to rubbing alcohol? I could really use some advice on how to get rid of them once and for all!

Ugh, mealybugs can be such a pain! You're right; they can be persistent, especially indoors. One thing that helps is introducing natural predators like ladybugs or lacewings if it's feasible in your situation. But since you're indoors, consistently applying a systemic pesticide could also help. Just remember to follow the instructions carefully to avoid harming your plants. You might also want to isolate your infested plants to prevent spreading to others.

You're definitely not alone in this! Mealybugs can be tough to eliminate because they lay eggs that are sometimes resistant to treatments. I've seen a lot of success with using both alcohol and sticky traps together. The traps can help catch any wandering bugs, and the alcohol can handle those on the plants directly. Just ensure you’re really thorough with your spraying—sometimes a second or third application is necessary!

Hey, dealing with mealybugs can be super frustrating! From my experience, sometimes they stick around because they're hiding in places you can't see, like in leaf axils or under the soil. Instead of just rubbing alcohol, you might want to try using insecticidal soap or even neem oil. Those tend to work effectively against them. Just make sure to cover your plants thoroughly and repeat the treatment every few days. Persistence is key! Keep an eye on your plants too—sometimes the bugs can reappear if any eggs were missed.
